Analytical Review of Using New Synthetic Insulating Gases for Sealed High Voltage Equipment

The aim of the work is to study the development of high voltage technologies involving the use of gas insulation. The article presents an analytical review of using various synthetic gases as internal insulation of sealed high voltage equipment. Factors causing the need to develop and use new insulating gases as alternatives for conventionally applied air and SF6 are studied. The electrophysical criteria for selecting synthetic gases with high electrical strength are shown. The known data on the electrical strength and arc quenching ability of mixtures on the basis of fluoronitrils and ketones is carried out. The key areas for improvement of gas insulation on the basis of innovative synthetic gas mixtures are highlighted. The latest results of development and operation of gas-filled equipment with synthetic gas insulation are presented.
