The Influence of the «Fundamentals of Russian Statehood» Education Course on the Mindset Formation in First-year Students

The purpose of the study is to determine the influence of the knowledge gained from learning the “Fundamentals of Russian Statehood” education course on the transformation of the mindset in first-year students and their value priorities. A comparative analysis of surveys conducted after completion of the course at the end of 2023 and 2024 was carried out, the results of which confirmed the relevance of introducing this discipline into the compulsory program. The influence of the gained knowledge about Russia on the transformation of the mindset in first-year students, including their value orientations and, as a consequence, an increase in their level of patriotism was revealed. It has been found that students are focused on traditional values and reproduce them. Almost half of the respondents expressed great interest in the discipline, a third of the respondents said that there were pros and cons, and one sixth of the total number of respondents were not too much interested in the classes. 80% of respondents affirm the importance of studying the discipline for understanding the modern Russian society.
