Trigeneration complexes, commonly known as combined cooling, heat, and power (CCHP) systems, provide significant energy savings; their choice is as a rule economically justified; therefore, much attention is paid in modern investigations to studies of trigeneration. The cooling systems of these complexes have a significant influence on their efficiency. The article addresses a study of the cooling systems used in three trigeneration complexes in industries that use high-temperature blowing and molding technology for making plastic containers by means of automatic injection machines. The objects of study are located in three different regions of Russia. The set goal is achieved by solving the following problems: assessing the efficiency of using fuel and energy resources, calculating the depth of recovering the heat of exhaust gases from generating equipment, and evaluating the thermal coefficient of thermodynamic cycles implemented in absorption lithium bromide chillers. Based on the conducted study, proposals for improving the cooling system efficiency through the use of combined heat recovery have been formulated. Combined absorption cycles with two-stage generation (Type 2-4) have shown an increase in the cold production coefficient of performance (COP) by 17-31% from COP = 0.69–0.77 to COP = 0.92–0.94 due to a decrease in losses during heat transformation and an increase in the depth of waste heat recovery. The practical significance of the obtained result consists in reducing the load on vapor-compression refrigeration machines used to generate cold at peak loads and, accordingly, reducing the costs for primary energy resources.
